There are several methods, both simple and more complex, that can increase the performance of any device based on Android . All their devices were tested on their devices and now we want to share with you. First, we tell simple techniques that do not require any special knowledge, and then move on to more advanced ones. Of course, you can use only a part of the options listed below to speed up the Android system, but the maximum effect can be achieved using all or almost all of the considered methods together.

For the convenience of information perception, we have divided the material into two parts.

::: Part 1:::

Android pre-tuning for maximum performance

Before proceeding with radical methods to increase system performance, make sure that it is configured correctly.

You must make the following preliminary settings:

1. Setting the power mode

Depending on the device model and Android version, these items in the Settings menu may be different or even missing. If the location of the menu in your device differs from that indicated below, then proceed by analogy. Here are the two most common options for the location of menu items:

Go to Settings -> Power -> Power Mode and select the mode "High Performance".

or

Go to Settings -> Energy Saving and select the "Performance" mode .

This will significantly improve the response of the system and speed up the operation of applications, but can reduce battery life.

2. Increased graphics performance (for Android 4.0+)

Go to Settings -> For Developers and tick the box “Accelerate the work of the GPU” (Acceleration using the GPU).

So we will tune the graphics processor to maximum performance to speed up gaming applications. Possible incompatibility with some games.

Possible incompatibility with some games

Do not be discouraged if your device does not have the specified items. Most likely, the Android system on your device is already set up by the gadget manufacturer for optimal values.

Next, we will tell about the increase in system performance, which can be obtained on any Android device.

Simple ways to increase Android system performance:

1. Install only the necessary applications

Install only the necessary applications

Google Play contains millions of applications and there is always the temptation to install everything at once. Think well, you will use the application before installing it. After all, any application installed in the Android device uses some of the system resources, thereby slowing down its work. Dozens of installed applications lead to "littering" of the system and can significantly reduce its overall performance.

Install only those applications that you need now, and not just in case.

2. Remove unused applications

Open the list of installed applications and view it from beginning to end Open the list of installed applications and view it from beginning to end. If any application has not been used for a long time or is no longer used at all, then delete it from the system. You can always restore this application from Google Play when you really need it. By removing all unnecessary programs and games, you will not only free up space in the device’s memory, but also increase its performance by freeing up additional RAM and disconnecting the needed services.

3. Choose lighter applications

If you need to install an application that performs a specific task, then do not rush to put the first one
If you need to install an application that performs a specific task, then do not rush to put the first one. Compare similar programs in Google Play, estimate their size in terms of functionality. Higher-quality and optimized applications, possessing all the same functions and capabilities as analogous products from other developers, occupy less space in the device’s memory and consume less system resources.

For example, the Alarm application is necessary in order not to work or go to college. If the functionality of the alarm clock built into the Android system is not enough for you, you can resort to installing an additional application. You can install a simple application that occupies only 300 KB of memory, or you can — and a super heaped up one that takes up 20 MB of memory or more. The result of the applications in both cases will be the same - you wake up. But the last application will significantly slow down the work of the entire system, unless of course you do not plan to use your Android device only as an alarm clock ;-). Similarly, select applications for other tasks.

The conclusion is simple: the “lighter” the application, the less it slows down the system. But there are exceptions, so it's best to carefully review the reviews about it before installing a new application.

4. Disable autorun unnecessary services.

Go to Settings -> Applications -> Running Services.

or

Go to Settings -> Application Management -> Working.

We look at what services you do not need and stop them. In order for these services to no longer start after the device is rebooted, you must disable them using the special program - the process manager.

There are a lot of such programs on Google Play, so we will not consider specific ones. You can independently find and install them. Below we give examples of several programs for managing applications and processes.

Turning off unnecessary services will speed up device booting at power up and increase its overall performance.

Turning off unnecessary services will speed up device booting at power up and increase its overall performance

5. Disable synchronization with unused services.

Go to Settings -> Accounts and sync and on the tab "Manage accounts" disable synchronization with all unused services. For example, in your Google account , you can turn off syncing contacts, Gmail, Picasa, calendar, and other services. Leave synchronization only with those services data from which you need to receive from the network in real time. If you do not use any services, uncheck the box “Auto sync” in the “Accounts and sync” window .

6. Disable auto-update apps in Google Play

Google Play has a built-in mechanism for automatically checking the versions of installed applications and updating them to the latest version. This process takes place in the background and is not noticeable to the user. However, the update service, like any other service, is always in memory and uses part of the system resources. At the same time, updating applications once a week can be done manually, it will not take long.

Disable auto-update to save GPRS traffic, battery charge and improve overall system performance.

To disable auto-update applications do the following. Go to Google Play -> Settings and uncheck the items "Notifications" and "Update automatically . " Along the way, we tick “Update only via Wi-Fi” to save GPRS traffic and, consequently, increase battery life.

7. Disable GPS and geolocation.

If you do not plan to use the phone or tablet as a navigator, you can disable the GPS service. When the GPS service is activated, the device battery discharges faster.

Go to Settings -> Coordinates ("Location" or "Location Information" , etc. ) and remove the checkmarks from all points (this will completely disable location determination).

Map services such as Google Maps or Yandex.Maps use a lot of device resources and continue to run in the background when you exit the application. If there is a need for such a service, then leave only one application, and remove the rest.

8. Turn off animation

Animation of windows and transitions in the Android system looks spectacular, but requires additional system resources. If the speed of the device is more important to you than the beautiful opening effects of windows, then turn off the animation.

Go to Settings -> Screen -> Animation and select the item "No animation."

or

Go to Settings -> For developers, look for items that are responsible for the animation and select the “Disable animation” or “Without animation” values (depending on the device).

Go to Settings -> For developers, look for items that are responsible for the animation and select the “Disable animation” or “Without animation” values (depending on the device)

9. Do not use live wallpapers.

Live wallpapers are beautiful, but we are faced with the task of increasing device performance, and therefore, remove live wallpapers from the start screen and remove them from the system. Having established a beautiful static picture, we lose nothing in terms of aesthetics, but we get a very significant acceleration of the Android system and an increase in battery life.

10. Remove extra widgets and shortcuts from the start screen.

Widgets and application shortcuts on the start screen are the main advantage of Android devices. But do not abuse the capabilities of the system and place the maximum number of them. In the end, all this variety of widgets constantly “hangs” in the device’s RAM and connects additional services and services for their work. And some of the widgets are also updated via the Internet. All this requires additional system resources and lowers responsiveness.

Analyze how often installed widgets and shortcuts of the start screen are used and remove all unnecessary ones.

If the interface of your home screen allows you to use a lot of additional tabs (screens), then reduce their number to a minimum. So some space in the RAM will be freed up for more important tasks.

On Google Play, there is one not very successful feature that automatically adds widgets and shortcuts to newly installed applications on the device’s start screen, thereby “littering” it. We get rid of this unnecessary functionality as follows:

Go to Google Play -> Settings and remove the checkmark from the item "Automatically add widgets."

11. Use Task Manager

The Android system has a built-in Task Manager with which you can close applications that are not being used at the moment by unloading them from memory. This allows you to free up RAM for current tasks. You can also download task managers from third-party developers on Google Play. See examples below.

12. Periodically clear the application cache and browser.

Go to Settings -> Applications -> Application Management. Clicking on the application, go to its properties and click the "Clear Cache" button . So we get rid of obsolete data and speed up the work of applications.

On Google Play, you can find many task manager programs that allow you to manage applications, disable unused services, and clear the application cache. One of these programs from the category of "all in one" is the Clean Master application with a Russian-language interface. Very simple and intuitive application, works like Android smartphones and on tablets.

Especially for tablets there is another similar application Memory Cleaner for Tablet. We will not describe all such applications, as you can independently find them on Google Play and try the ones you like.
